Dr. Weiming Wu earned his Ph.D. (1991) from Wuhan University of Hydraulic and Electric Engineering, China, in Engineering Science with emphasis on Hydraulics and River Dynamics. He joined NCCHE in March 1997 and has developed a suite of computational models for flow, sediment transport, pollutant transport and aquatic ecology in riverine and coastal waters. He developed several empirical formulas for sediment porosity, settling velocity, movable bed roughness, nonuniform sediment transport capacity, etc. His nonuniform sediment transport formula has been recommended by international peers as one of the best choices. In addition to his other work , he authored a book entitled "Computational River Dynamics" that was published by Taylor & Francis in 2007.
